CDL & DOT Physical Exams

As a commercial driver, your livelihood depends on your health and maintaining your commercial driver's license (CDL). Dr. Mark Barreto is certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to perform comprehensive DOT medical examinations.

We offer these physicals to both members and non-members. Avoid the chaotic waiting rooms of urgent care clinics—book an appointment with Barreto Family Medicine and get back to work quickly. The cost for a DOT physical is a flat $150 for non-members, and is included free for existing DPC members.

The Department of Transportation requires a thorough medical evaluation to ensure you are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to operate large commercial vehicles safely. Your exam will include the following official components:

• Medical History Review: We will review your past surgeries, current medications, existing health conditions, and any symptoms.
• Physical Examination: A hands-on check of your general health, including your heart, lungs, abdomen, nervous system, and extremities.
• Vital Signs: We will measure your blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, and BMI. (Note: FMCSA generally requires blood pressure to be 140/90 or below to pass without restrictions).
• Vision & Hearing Tests: You must have at least 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without lenses) and be able to hear a "forced whisper" from 5 feet away.
• Urinalysis: A required lab test to check for sugar, blood, or protein which can indicate underlying conditions like diabetes. (Note: This is a medical health check, not a drug screen).
